The Roland MC-505 "groovebox" is a consumer electronic musical instrument from the Japanese manufacturer Roland appeared in 1998. The instrument includes a MIDI controller, a sequencer, a drum machine and a series of musical synthesis elements: arpeggiator, oscillator, voltage controlled filter, adjustment of the sound envelope. It succeeds the Roland MC-303. A "live synthesizer" version, with a keyboard is also available under the reference Roland JX-305 Groovesynth. The range then evolved with the Roland D2, Roland MC-307, Roland MC-909 and the Roland MC-808.
