Riffer like Malcolm Young, with his crunch that retains a beautiful definition in all circumstances, is the challenge taken up hands down by the French brand. With a metal case that hosts a beautiful wooden façade, we find here the trademark ofANASOUNDS. The logo and the name do not deceive: we will have the sound of Malcolm, the manual even specifying how to adjust the pedal to have the sound of the Australian guitarist on the album cited. With its 3 knobs and its unique switch, the High Voltage is simple, direct, and terribly effective.

There is also a pair of additional settings under the hood (a Voicing and a Treble Cut), in addition to adjusting the intensity of the diode for activating the effect. We turn and it sounds. The setting of Gain is very progressive and that of Tone very fine and precise. Bass Cut's switch helps break into the mix by removing excess bass when needed. We had no trouble getting a great sound, with Humbuckers, Singles Coils, and on tube amps as transistors. Grain, a small dose of clarity in addition to the Drive, this is enough to make your richest chords and open tunings sound with an incredible definition, while maintaining a real vintage flavor.

If we push the gain to the limit, it remains very hard rock. But it's also an incredible saturated channel booster, which changes from the inevitable copies of Klon Centaur or Tube Screamer and gives more character to your amp. We find the spirit of AC / DC in these pedal. Thanks to the settings offered by ANASOUNDS, we laugh like the late Malcolm, with beautiful notes "both clear and saturated". But by pushing the settings a little further, the High Voltage remains very rock, but more muscular. Guillaume Ley
