The 2016 version of the first-ever overdrive pedal stamped Ibanez is expected to arrive in stores by the end of October. Indeed this OD-850 orange was released in the mid-70s before the famous Tube Screamer and its story is original to say the least.
The first pedals Ibanez OD-850 arrived on the market in 1974 at the same time as the Maxon D&S Distortion & Sustainer almost identical since the 2 pedals are inspired by the circuit of the Big of Electro Harmonix in improved versions and... almost identical since they are all 2 per Maxon! Moreover, the typical orange cases of the OD-850 were actually repainted green D&S Maxon !
The other striking fact is thatIbanez announces that it is an overdrive pedal while its circuit is much closer to that of a Fuzz. Moreover, Ibanez announces on its website that the 2016 version offers a high level of gain.
