Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer

In more than 30 years of existence, theIbanez Tube Screamer has established itself in the world of overdrives. Its creamy sound blooming good the sound of lamps will have conquered many bluesmen. And it is not Stevie Ray Vaughan who will say the opposite, since, as a great admirer of the Tube Screamer, he used to use two connected in series (the first serving to boost the second).

A reissued legend

TheIbanez TS9 presented here is a reissue of the original model dating from 1982. Faithful to its predecessor, it retains the same sound and ergonomics. It has three potentiometers. The first (Drive) manages the distortion rate, the second (Level) takes care of the volume and the last (Tone) of the tone. The set makes it possible to find the characteristic grain of the lamps thanks to a slight bump in the mediums. Plugging this pedal into an entry-level transistor amp should have a nice surprise in store for you. Indeed, it will warm up the sound of these small amps often lacking roundness.

Two is even better

One of the peculiarities that has contributed to the success of this small green box is its ease to match with another overdrive pedal. If you place the TS9 upstream of another TS9 (for example), the first will be used to boost the second. This will allow you to bring out your solos or add gain for a wilder distortion. An evil couple!
