The range is divided between 5 standard models (from 6 to 20 inputs) and 5 models incorporating SPX effects processors, which makes it possible to offer multiple possibilities and mixing conditions.

All models share high-end Yamaha Class-A "D-PRE" microphone preamps that use an inverted Darlington circuit. These professional studio-quality preamps also equip high-end consoles Yamaha, and offer significant input gain and extremely low residual noise, meeting the expectations of the most demanding sound engineers. By providing round, natural bass, rich mids, and silky, soft treble with very low distortion, "D PRE" preamps ensure an extremely wide frequency range, allowing them to transmit signal from any audio source without coloring.

Models with 10 or more inputs are equipped with 1 -button compression in a new and improved version, allowing the dynamics of a wide variety of audio sources to be optimized by manipulating a single potentiometer.

Acclaimed by sound engineers around the world since their launch in 1985, Yamaha SPX effects processors have become an audio industry standard, whether for the sound system or the recording studio. The XU models offer an update to this renowned processor, with 24 different effects easily editable (compared to 16 in the previous series), while the 6-channel MG06X model embeds 6 presets.

The XU models are also equipped with a USB 2.0 interface allowing sampling in 24-bit/192kHz to work at high resolution read/write with digital audio software. Steinberg Cubase AI software comes originally and USB Audio Class 2.0 technology is also supported for easy communication with tablets and other high-tech devices without installing a driver. All models in the XU range are compatible with the Apple Camera Connection Kit or lightning-to-USB Camera adapter for direct use with an iPhone or iPad. Each model of the new MG series has been designed with the desire to guarantee exceptional durability with practical characteristics offering greater resistance to different conditions of use and possible accidents that may occur in the field. A steel frame covered with epoxy paint improves the rigidity of the structure while the placement of the buttons on the surface of the table protects the internal components by absorbing any impact or pressure on the buttons themselves. Based on user feedback from customers Yamaha around the world, these models with 12 or more channels offer even improved reliability thanks to the internal power supply.
